New Wolves signing Rodrigo Gomes has hailed Rangers captain James Tavernier as his toughest-ever opponent.

And the Portugal Under-21 international insists the best atmosphere he's ever played in was at Ibrox.

The winger yesterday completed his move from Braga to Wolves. A deal worth £12.7m was struck between the clubs.

He signed a contract until 2029 with a one-year option after completing his medical on Tuesday.

Wolves posed a quickfire Q&A session with their new player on TikTok earlier today, to enable their fans to get to know their newest player.

And it was here that Gomes revealed his admiration for the Scottish Premiership giants.

He was asked 'Who is the best player you've played against?'. He replied: "Maybe [James] Tavernier]."

He came up against the Rangers skipper while on Europa League duty in 2022 - the year that Giovanni van Bronckhorst guided the Ibrox club to the final.

The teams met at the quarter-final stage of the competition that season, and it clearly has a lasting impact on the 20-year-old.

He was next asked 'What's the best atmosphere you have played in?'. He said: "Rangers."

The player was a teenager at the time the two teams last met, so it's obvious how much he treasured those big occasions.

Meanwhile, Alfredo Morelos is set for a shock return to Colombian football after eight years away from his homeland with Atletico Junior poised to end his Santos nightmare.

The former Rangers striker has failed to recapture his peak Ibrox form after just four goals in 29 appearances for Pele's old side, who were relegated for the first time in their history last season.

He's been made available for transfer and ambitious Colombian side Atletico Junior are on the brink of agreeing a deal with the Brazilian side to allow him to return to his homeland, after Santos president Marcelo Teixeira sanctioned the move.
