It's been a busy day in terms of outgoings at Hibernian with two players heading for the Championship.

Firstly, Dan Mackay has departed Easter Road on a free transfer, with Partick Thistle swooping in for the winger.

The 23-year-old made seven first-team appearances for Hibs since joining in the summer of 2021.

He enjoyed loan spells at Kilmarnock, former club Inverness Caledonian Thistle, and last season, he spent the Scottish Premiership campaign at Livingston.

The attacker will now look to settle at his new permanent club Partick Thistle, where he has signed a two-year deal.

Head coach Kris Doolan commented: “We came into this transfer window looking to strengthen the wide areas so adding Daniel to the squad is very pleasing. He brings a lot of pace and directness to our attacking options having played at Premiership level last season.

“After Steven Lawless’ injury we ended up with players playing out of position so we’re hoping to create a bit more depth in that part of the team this season to avoid that.

“In Daniel’s last two full seasons at this level he’s played just over 50 games and been involved in 17 goals which is a good return and we’re hoping that playing alongside some of our attacking players he can become even better and produce even more.”

Secondly, Murray Aiken has joined Airdrieonians on loan for the 2024/25 season.

The central midfielder, 19, will re-join Rhys McCabe's side having also spent last season on loan with the Championship team.

Sporting Director Malky Mackay said: “This is another good opportunity for Murray to gain more experience playing senior football at a good level and a club that he knows well.

“Murray impressed during his first loan spell with Airdrieonians last season, and this is a good chance for him to build on that and get more minutes under his belt between now and the end of the year.

“I’d like to thank Airdrie for the smooth handling of the loan and we look forward to seeing how he progresses.”
