Celtic have had two transfer bids for Columbus Crew forward Jacen Russell-Rowe rejected, according to reports.

It's claimed a Scottish side have had approaches to sign the 21-year-old rebuffed by the MLS club.

Reports in the United States suggested bids were below the valuation set for the player by Columbus Crew.

Jorunalist Tom Bogert stated: "Sources: Columbus Crew reject offers from Scottish club for Canadian forward Jacen Russell-Rowe.

"Offers below Crew's valuation of the player. Player could play more abroad.

"Russell-Rowe, 21, has 5g/1a in around 1,000 mins this season. Was part of Canada squad at Copa America."

The Scottish Sun claim the club interested in Russell-Rowe is Celtic with Brendan Rodgers keen to bolster his attacking options.

Russell-Rowe was part of the Canada side at the Copa America earlier this year where he teamed up with Celtic defender Alistair Johnston.

Rodgers has been vocal in his desire to add an attacking option as he laid out his ideal squad depth would see two top strikers supported by a younger development option.

Rocco Vata had been singled out for that third spot but decided to leave the club to join Watford.

“My ideal scenario would be to have three strikers," said Rodgers.

“The plan was for us to have Kyogo, one other and bring through a youngster. That was the role we came up with for Rocco.

“It’s very difficult for a club of this size to have three top strikers.

“You can live with two because we play so many games and the specific nature of them means we can change it about.

“Three is difficult. But I also thought it would be good for development to bring in a young player from within. Rocco was that, but he’s moved on.
