The number of people who were charged by police at the Rangers v Celtic match over the weekend has been revealed.

The two Glasgow sides battled it out in the first Old Firm clash of the season on Sunday, September 1, at Celtic Park in the East End.

Now, police have revealed a 32-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the alleged possession of pyrotechnics during the game.

Meanwhile, a further two men - aged 22 and 26 - were charged in connection with the alleged possession of prohibited items.

Officers say reports will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Additionally, cops are investigating incidents of disorder and the use of pyrotechnics during the clash. 

The action-packed match finished with a 3 - 0 win for the Hoops, with goals scored by Daizen Maeda, Kyogo Furuhashi, and Callum McGregor.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “A 32-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with possession of pyrotechnics during a football match between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park on Sunday, September 1, 2024.

“A further two men, aged 22 and 26, have been charged in connection with possession of a prohibited item.

“Reports will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

“Officers are carrying out further enquiries into incidents of disorder and use of pyrotechnics during the match.”
