Don Robertson was spot on with his decision to book Emmanuel Adegboyega for his challenge on Rangers midfielder Connor Barron yesterday.

That's the view of refereeing expert Dermot Gallagher.

The former Premier League ref explained why he felt the Dundee United midfielder's tackle merited a yellow card, and not a red despite some fury from fans, as Philippe Clement's side came away from the Scottish Premiership fixture at Tannadice with three points.

"When we look at it, he's very low and there's minimal contact," he told Sky Sports' Ref Watch show this morning. "He actually catches him across the top of his foot.

"It's not as if he plants it into his shin or it's studs into his ankle. I think the referee calls this right.

"There isn't a massive contact. He's very low and gets him on top of the foot. It's the point of contact."

Pundits Stephen Warnock and Sue Smith were in agreement over the matter.

The latter added: "He does come in with quite an intensity, doesn't he? 

"I think it's the fact his foot is low, his studs are low."

Meanwhile, Dave King has outlined his two major aims should he return as chairman of Rangers.

The South African-based businessman has made himself available to the club over the next two years following the resignation of John Bennett.

Still, the club's largest shareholder, the 69-year-old wants to return to his former role at Ibrox to help them gain some much-needed investment and to get the club's operational policies back on a safe footing.

King admits he hopes things are 'not as bad' as when he went in all those years ago in 2015 to help rescue the club alongside John Gilligan - who is filling the position on an interim basis.
