Brendan Rodgers reacted to Celtic's Champions League win with congratulations but showed his ruthless commitment to winning by telling his charges it's now all about the League Cup clash with Falkirk at the weekend.

Celtic defender Liam Scales explained that Rodgers was in no mood to rest on laurels after a stunning 5-1 home win over Slovan Bratislava that netted the Hoops €2.1m in prize money.

And Scales revealed that his teammates want to 'have a go' in the remaining seven games of Europe's premier club tournament.

He told TNT Sport: "It was amazing, the result first and foremost. A win like that doesn't come often in the Champions League and to personally get the goal as well, I'm delighted.the Champions League and to personally get the goal as well, I'm delighted.

"The manager said congratulations and that we now need to go and kick on in the League Cup at the weekend.

"There's tough games coming up, every game is tough in this competition but we want to really have a go this season. We are all more experienced now from previous years and we want to pick up wins wherever we can.

"Arne (Engels) has proper quality on his deliveries and he puts the ball in the right area for my goal. We know what areas to attack and you just have to go for it. It was a perfect ball and all I had to do was get good contact and that was it.

"The format gives us more chances to win and play at home and I think the fans can feel that and you could feel it from them. It was brilliant."
