Ange Postecoglu has been involved in another spiky exchange with the media after Tottenham narrowly avoided being dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Coventry last night.
The former Celtic boss’s side were trailing 1-0 to the Championship club until the 88th minute, with late goals from Djed Spence and Brennan Johnson sparing Spurs’ blushes to send them through to the fourth round.
After the game, Postecoglu was questioned by the media about his substitution of midfielder Lucas Bergvall in the 62nd minute, with one journalist stating “the fans weren’t too happy” with the decision.
“I don’t make substitutions by poll, mate," Ange said, in another sharp response. "So you know, I’m sure the fans have got their own opinions but yeah, Lucas, like I said, that’s his first sort of significant game time for quite a while. What I didn’t want was pushing guys over the edge. I had some pretty good players on the bench who I thought could make an impact."

It comes after the former Celtic manager was left baffled by the backlash he received to his statement that he "always wins" silverware in his second season, being branded rude by ex-Liverpool defender and pundit Stephen Warnock on Sky Sports.
When asked if he believed his side were the better team in the first 70 minutes of the Coventry game, the Australian bit back again: “No, I don’t think I’ve said that so far. If you need further clarification, I think I said ‘we hung in there’ so that suggests that we just dug deep to stay in the game. We didn’t dominate it.
“I don’t fall into the ‘lucky-unlucky’ because if we were lucky today it probably means we were unlucky in the other games and you know what, who cares, it doesn’t matter. It’s a game of football and we found a way to win tonight.”
