Former Celtic captain Scott Brown is being named among the potential candidates to take over as St Johnstone manager after the club parted company with Craig Levein last week, per The Courier.
The 39-year-old has made an impressive start to the season at Ayr United, with the Championship side currently top of the table on 15 points after seven games.

Brown took over at Somerset Park in January 2024 and led the Honest Men to a seventh-place league finish last season.
With St Johnstone set to accelerate the process of appointing a new manager this week, Brown is reportedly one of the names being considered, along with Aberdeen first-team coach Peter Leven and Northern Irish title-winning manager Tiernan Lynch.
The Perth outfit sacked manager Craig Levein last week just five games into the new season, with the club tenth in the Scottish Premiership table with one win and four defeats so far.
Head coach Andy Kirk has been named as interim boss until a new manager is found and was in charge for Saints’ 3-3 draw with Ross County in Dingwall on Saturday.
St Johnstone owner Adam Webb has outlined his intention to lead the appointment of a new boss before taking medical leave after revealing his cancer diagnosis last week.
