Loïs Openda clawed one back for Belgium just before half time, but France held firm despite a sending off for Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni, who received a second yellow card with fifteen minutes to go in his second game as national team captain.
Arne Engels made his international debut in September, coming off the bench for the final 20 minutes of Belgium's 3-1 win over Israel in their Nations League opener.
The 21-year-old was an unused substitute in their 2-2 draw with Italy on Thursday.
