Jimmy Thelin refused to hype up Aberdeen's upcoming Scottish Premiership clash against Rangers. 

Although, the Dons boss knows that Philippe Clement's side will prove stiff opposition and the impetus will be on his squad to find a solution if they want to continue their incredible 15-game unbeaten run under his guidance.

“I’m excited for every game,” the Swede said as Aberdeen go into the fixture ahead of their bitter rivals in the league table. “We know it’s a big game, but for us we have to focus on the right things and then we take on the game on Wednesday and try to be the best we can be and fight for the three points.

“We will try to work as usual in how we prepare ourselves. Rangers are a really strong team, they are good, so it will be a tough game. We know we need to stay focused on the right things. We need some short days now to prepare ourselves and reload and prepare for that game.”

Pittodrie is expected to be sold-out for a third straight game, and Thelin believes the whole city getting behind the club has been a big factor in his early success. Particularly since the Red Army have remained patient even if Aberdeen have taken until the latter stages of matches to find the elusive winner. 

Aberdeen have remarkably not lost at home since February 24 in all competitions. 

“The atmosphere was really big,” smiled Thelin after Peter Ambrose's 84th minute goal secured a 1-0 victory over Dundee United on Saturday night.

“From day one, the fans have been so supportive and pushing the team and we try to grow with them.

“I think it’s important in the long term to have every department, everybody at Pittodrie and Cormack Park and in the city, working together to build a strong Aberdeen for the future.

“Nothing has changed, we try to grow and be better every week. But we need everyone so it’s nice to see the strength that our fans give to the players and how they enjoy it.

“They get these extra metres in the legs at the end of the games and keep pushing and pushing because of the support we have and this atmosphere. I hope Pittodrie is a full house again on Wednesday.”
