ScotRail has issued a warning ahead of several big events in Glasgow next month.

The rail firm said they are preparing for a 'busy November' as a series of 'high-profile' rugby and football matches are set to take place across Scotland.

Ahead of the expected busy period, ScotRail has confirmed it will provide additional services and seats, where possible, for fans travelling to and from the various events.

However, they have also warned fans attending any of the matches to plan their journeys, leave extra time for travel, and purchase tickets before travelling.

One of the events taking place is the Premier Sports Cup semi-finals at Hampden Park in Glasgow's Southside on Saturday, November 2 and Sunday, November 3.

As part of the event, Celtic will take on Aberdeen at 5.30pm on Saturday, while Motherwell will play Rangers at 3pm on Sunday.

Additionally, the Hoop's Champions League campaign will continue with two home matches at Celtic Park against RB Leipzig on Tuesday, November 5 at 8pm, and Club Brugge on Wednesday, November 27 at 8pm.

On top of that, Celtic will also be travelling to Edinburgh to play Hearts at Tynecastle on Saturday, November 23, while Hearts will also be heading to Glasgow to face Rangers at Ibrox on Sunday, November 10.

Meanwhile, The Famous Grouse Nations Series, featuring the Scottish men's rugby team, kicks off at the Scottish Gas Murrayfield stadium in Edinburgh on Saturday, November 2, with Scotland taking on Fiji at 5.40pm.

Other matches in the series will see Scotland host South Africa on Sunday, November 10, Portugal on Saturday, November 16 and Australia on Sunday, November 24.

Phil Campbell, ScotRail Customer Operations Director, said: “November is set to be a bumper month of sport across Scotland’s Railway, and we’ll be doing all we can to support travel to and from the events with more seats and more services, where possible.

“With a number of high-profile rugby and football matches taking place, trains are expected to be much busier than usual, so we’re encouraging everyone to allow extra time for travel, and check their journey in advance via our online journey planner.

“Buying return tickets before you board through mTickets on our mobile app will help your journey run smoothly.”

A spokesperson for ScotRail added: "ScotRail will issue further travel advice in the lead-up to the matches at www.scotrail.co.uk/sport."
