RB Leipzig keeper Peter Gulacsi is a doubt for their Champions League showdown with Celtic next week after injuring an ankle.

The veteran Hungarian international had to go off during his side's win against Freiburg after the injury and he was replaced by 22-year-old rookie keeper Maarten Vandevoordt, who made his debut for RB Leipzig after his summer signing from Genk.

And he now faces a sweat to be fit for next week's tie, after manager Marco Rose confirmed he will definitely miss their German Cup tie against St Pauli this week and admitted he would be a doubt for their weekend showdown in the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund and next week's game in Scotland.

He said: "We still have to wait for the exact diagnosis. He wanted to try again after the break, but it didn't work.

"When he left the pitch he immediately realised that it was pointless.

"But Maarten did well and he has earned it over the last few weeks and is a very calm and composed goalkeeper.

"He knows that he will get his opportunities and we also know what he can do. That is why he trains so hard.

"He showed a lot in a difficult situation when you come in at such short notice at half-time. It was an impeccable performance and a good debut and I have no worries about playing him in future matches if necessary."
