Simon Donnelly believes Auston Trusty and Luke McCowan deserve to retain their places in the starting XI as Celtic gear up to face Dundee at Parkhead tonight.
Brendan Rodgers’ side are aiming to continue their unbeaten start to the Scottish Premiership having dropped just two points so far in a 2-2 draw with Aberdeen - who sit behind the Hoops on goal difference.
With Celtic set to take on the Dons on Saturday in the League Cup semi-final before a return to Champions League action at home to RB Leipzig next Tuesday night, it is likely the manager will look to rotate the squad.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, ex-Hoops forward Donnelly said he feels Trusty and McCowan did more than enough during Sunday’s 3-0 win over Motherwell to keep their spots in the XI. He said: “I would [keep McCowan in the team]. I think he’s done well; he’s made a real positive impact coming off the bench. I thought he was really good at the weekend, scores a goal again, I think he’ll keep his place.”
Asked if Trusty should also keep his place, he said: “Again, that’s another one where [Rodgers] shuffled the pack. Scales finished at left-back, it’ll be really interesting to see that. I think tomorrow, I think he might start with Carter-Vickers and Trusty.”
Donnelly then gave his thoughts on Liam Scales, adding: “Whether he starts at left-back, whether he shuffles over there, it’s a good position for the manager.”
