A former favourite among the Rangers first-team squad publicly returned to Ibrox for the first time since his unfair dismissal yesterday.

Jim McAllister was in attendance as Philippe Clement's side beat Hearts 1-0 at Ibrox on Sunday night.

The ex-Morton captain previously worked for the club as a kitman during the tenure of Steven Gerrard and Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

He was sacked from his position two seasons ago, with James Bisgrove the CEO at the time, and John Bennett the chairman.

McAllister took Rangers to an employment tribunal in Glasgow where it was found that Rangers were in 'breach of contract' over the sacking earlier this year.

The Scottish Premiership said were made to pay out £13,000.

Now, nine months later, McAllister has reappeared at Ibrox, as he took to the stands yesterday to cheer on his boyhood club against Neil Critchley's side. 

And as some high-profile Rangers fans have pointed out, this was his first time back at the club following the departure of key figures in the boardroom at the start of this season.

Leon Balogun shared a photo of him and McAllister posing post-match. 

He accompanied the pic with a Union Jack flag and blue heart emoji, alongside the caption: "Great to have you back home last night. You are missed."

McAlister works for Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia after Steven Gerrard drafted him in to work behind the scenes.

Back in February, McAllister said: “I wanted to put on record my thanks to everyone who has supported me since the Employment Tribunal in Glasgow adjudicated that I was unfairly dismissed by Rangers.

“As you can imagine, being wrongly accused is a personal trauma, but also a trauma for my immediate family and friends, all of whom of course, knew there was no factual basis for the allegations.

"I also learned the strength of the Rangers family and football community and their sense of justice and fairness.

“I wanted to thank all those who took the time to post support for me and my family and who also sent personal messages.”
