Rangers-daft Cameron Menzies has kept his Grand Slam dream alive by beating former Premier League Darts champion James Wade.

Last night, the Scot reached the quarter-finals of the major tournament. 

The 35-year-old hit double tops to win the match 10-9 after winning the first five legs. He came back from 6-4 down.

As is usually the case when Scottish players are on the oche, he was taunted by the English crowd with chants of 'Scotland get battered everywhere they go'. 

But he didn't let it get to him, as Menzies - a plumber in his day job - pulled off his 'best ever PDC result'.

"I don’t know how to explain that," he said. "I won the first five legs before break 3-2. I get the whole ‘Scotland get battered’. I love you guys, I expect that.

"I don’t know what happened there but I’ve never hoped for a dart more in my life.

"That wasn’t confidence, that was just praying to things I didn’t know existed. I am ecstatic.

"I don’t deal with this very well. To get involved with the crowd is my mentality thing. I don’t do it in a bad way, I’m just a nervous wreck.

“This has been a rollercoaster. I didn’t think I deserved to be here, but I’m very grateful to be where I am, and this is arguably my best result in the PDC.

"I think I’ve got someone looking over me at the moment. I’m carrying a bit of luck. I might have to phone in sick tomorrow!"

The prize money for winning the Grand Slam is a whopping £650,000. 

Menzies will fight for his place in the last eight against Northern Irishman Mickey Mansell.

He defeated Dutchman Danny Noppert 10-7 to book his first televised ranking quarter-final berth.
