Scottish businessman and former Rangers owner Craig Whyte has fired a tongue-in-cheek barb at the Scottish National Party on social media.
Kicked off by outspoken political commentator Wings Over Scotland, a thread on X (formerly Twitter) critiqued the perceived financial health of the SNP, to which one user speculated about the party's brand being the subject of .
Wings Over Scotland replied saying, "I hear Craig Whyte's got £1", to which Whyte himself quote-replied.
Whyte said: "I invest in distressed assets but even I wouldn't buy the SNP for £1."

Whyte is best known in Scottish business and football circles for his tenure as the owner of Rangers in the early 2010s.
In May 2011, he acquired an 85.3 percent controlling interest in the club from Sir David Murray for £1, taking on the club's debt in the process.
As owner of Rangers, Whyte oversaw Rangers entering administration in February 2012.
By June 2012, Rangers entered liquidation, with the club's assets sold to Sevco Scotland Ltd, headed by Charles Green.
