Rangers face a nervy wait to discover the extent of Neraysho Kasanwirjo's injury after he was forced off for Netherlands under-21s.

The on-loan defender was involved for his country against England but was forced off with a nasty knee injury.

Reports have now claimed fears are growing over knee ligament damage having been sustained by the Feyenoord stopper.

The Scottish Sun reports Kasanwirjo is yet to have a scan on the injury as medical staff wait for swelling around his knee to go down.

It's reported that Kasanwirjo is almost certain to miss the match against Dundee United this weekend with the potential of months out of action.

The Dutch defender has played 12 times for Rangers this season since joining on loan.

Kasanwirjo has been a regular contributor off the bench but started against St Mirren and Aberdeen last month as he looked to force his way into Philippe Clement's side.

Kasanwirjo was unable to continue for his country after overstretching for the ball with an opponent.

He immediately fell to the ground and it's suggested that the 22-year-old may have sustained a serious knee injury.

Kasanwirjo, who was visibly shaken, went straight down the tunnel to receive treatment on the issue.

The setback comes ahead of a gruelling fixture schedule for Rangers as they balance Scottish Premiership duties with the Europa League. Plus, there's the small matter of a Premier Sports Cup final to come against Celtic next month.
