Cameron Carter Vickers believes Celtic can give anyone a run for their money in the UEFA Champions League, especially at Celtic Park, as he reflected on how the squad are maturing as a group in the competition. 

Celtic have recovered extremely well from their 7-1 hammering from Borussia Dortmund on matchday two, not losing a game since that forgettable evening on October 1. 

Thereafter, Brendan Rodgers' men have held Atalanta to a 0-0 away draw then delivered a statement result by defeating RB Leipzig 3-1 at Parkhead last time out in the newly-formed league phase.

They have also been impressing domestically and hold a three point lead over Aberdeen at the top of the league table having scored an incredible 35 goals from their opening 12 games. 

Up next for Carter-Vickers and Co is Belgian side Club Brugge, and Celtic know another favourable result in front of a packed home crowd will go a long way to ensuring they progress into the knockout stage. Celtic currently have seven points at the halfway stage and sit 15th out of 36-teams.

"We are definitely confident," the USA internationalist replied when asked if Celtic believe that they can beat anyone on home soil. 

"I think, you know, our performances have shown that, you know, we definitely can compete at a high level, so it's just about doing that consistently now.

"I think if you look at kind of as a group, you know, we've been in this competition now for three years, and I think you can kind of see how we've kind of matured and grown as a group in this competition, and you know, it's not just about learning from this season.

"I think we can take our learning from the last couple seasons, and we have done so far to get into this season's competition, and at the moment it's paying off well for us."

Carter-Vickers has been part of the backline that has the best defensive record in the Scottish Premiership this season, and he discussed the importance of building on that foundations by eradicating any punishable mistakes when facing European opponents. 

"I think as a back line and as a team it's just about looking at the finer detail at this level," he said. 

"Small mistakes that maybe don't get punished in the league get punished. It's about trying to eradicate them as much as you can. Of course you are not going to eradicate all mistakes, that's impossible but we will try and tighten up the small details where we can here and there. That will definitely help us."
