GREEK side Aris have opened negotiations with Rangers in an attempt to get them to lower their £4.2 million future transfer fee for forgotten loan flop Jose Cifuentes.
The Ecuadorian midfielder is on loan with Aris and the club initially agreed on a deal where they had the option to sign Cifuentes at any time for the fee.
Cifuentes has been a key player for the Thessaloniki club and has made 13 appearances for them and helped Aris to fifth place in the Greek League.

However, they now want to renegotiate the original deal for Cifuentes because they feel the transfer fee is too high and reports in Greece revealed they contacted Rangers last week to see if a new agreement could be reached.
Cifuentes first exited Rangers in February on loan to Cruzeiro, but he managed to make just three starts in Brazil's Seria A and was bombed out of the first team.
His time at Aris has been more successful and manager Akis Mantzios sees him as an important member of the team.
Cifuentes made just six league starts for the Rangers after arriving from Los Angeles FC in a £1.2 million deal, which he still has two and a half years left.
