Wayne Rooney's focus lies squarely on reversing Plymouth's fortunes following a week the former Manchester United and England star described as the toughest of his managerial career.

Should he ever move on from The Pilgrims at some point down the line, however, former Celtic manager Neil Lennon reckons the ex-striker wouldn't rule out Scotland altogether.

Speaking to BoyleSports, who offer the latest SPFL odds, Lennon said: "Wayne Rooney managing in Scotland? Never say never.

"He looks determined to be a successful manager and he’s digging in at Plymouth, they just have that inconsistency in playing at home and away from home at the moment and that’s where they have been struggling.

"He has plenty to concentrate on down there before thinking about his next job, but who knows what will happen in the future."

Turning his attention to Celtic's endeavours tonight (Wednesday) against Aberdeen at Pittodrie in the Scottish Premiership, Lennon said he expects the Hoops to continue their dominance.

He added: "Celtic already laid down a marker in the League Cup semi-final by winning 6-0, and have just beaten Ross County 5-0 with five different scorers.

"It’s incredible the talent that Brendan Rodgers has at his disposal at the moment and although they will hope to win comfortably, it won’t be an easy game especially on a Wednesday night with an atmosphere under the lights.

"I could see a 2-0 win for Celtic, they’ll have to do their best to quieten the crowd and they can do that by keeping possession. There are goals in all areas going forward too so you’d expect a couple of goals."
