GLASGOW Clan head coach Pete Russell is to leave the club just weeks after signing a three-year contract.
The Clan said the 44-year-old has decided to jet off to accept a job offer in Germany and, following completion of negotiations, the Clan confirmed it has “reluctantly” accepted his resignation.
Russell will be joining EHC Freiburg in the DEL2, taking over from Jan Melichar.
The Clan said: “Obviously, we are bitterly disappointed that the faith that we placed in Russell by giving him a three season contract has not been reciprocated.”
The club said it will now begin the process of looking for a new head coach who will be focussed on building on its fourth place league finish last season as it skates towards its first EIHL silverware.
