Glasgow Clan’s latest signing Matt Pufahl says he can’t wait to learn from coach Zack Fitzgerald after moving from Slovakian side HKM Zvolen.
The 25-year-old defenceman was confirmed as the latest addition as the club prepare themselves for the new season, which begins in August, revealing one former Clan player gave him the lowdown on life in Glasgow, helping Pufahl make his decision.
“I think I can learn a lot from the coach,” the new man said. “I looked him up and I saw he was a tough guy coming through in Seattle while I was from Everett in Washington state and there was a big rivalry there.
“We had a laugh about that and if he’s anything like my old coach from there, he’s a big, tough, defenceman who plays the game the right way. Zack seems to be a fans favourite in Glasgow too so I hope he can help improve the defensive side of my game and make me excel.
“I played with Liam Heelis in school and I know he was only there for a short time, but he really enjoyed Glasgow and told me what to expect, including what the fans are like so I’m excited to get going.”
