Pollok's top scorer Richie Barr is up for sale after asking to be transfer-listed following the 5-4 victory over Kilbirnie Ladeside.

The shock news for Southside supporters appears to confirm terracing whispers that 32-year-old Barr has cut an unhappy figure around Newlandsfield ever since the appointment of hard taskmaster boss Tony McInally, whose double snub at the weekend was the final straw for the Scotland Juniors striker.

The striker has been a near ever-present for the Southside club this season and has racked up an impressive 19- goal haul in 24 matches.

However, he found himself dropped from the starting line-up for the crunch relegation contest against the

Blasties with Macca opting instead to go with the forward line partnership of newcomer David Winters and 18-year-old Raith Rovers loan signing Jamie Watson.

Barr is his side's regular spot-kick taker and looked like capping a second-half appearance off the substitutes' bench with yet another goal when Pollok were awarded a second-half penalty.

However, the home dugout clamoured for Winters to assume responsibility and he duly rammed home his fourth goal of a sensational debut performance.

Barr played out the final eight minutes and headed for the dressing room where

once changed he submitted a transfer request to club officials.

"There was a loud and clear message given out so maybe best if I move on to where I'm wanted," was the hitman's frank comment on his situation.

His availability is almost certain to attract a number of Junior suitors given that Cumnock, Kilbirnie Ladeside and Petershill are credited with an interest and it's believed a Senior club have also made an audacious approach to take him out on loan until the end of this season.

Lok boss McInally insisted: "Richie is a top Junior striker and I can understand him

being unhappy at not playing but surely even he must admit we got the team selection right.

"Kevin Bradley was outstanding and served up his best game for the club since my arrival, while Davie Winters was just unbelievable and demonstrated why we had no qualms about throwing him straight into the team.

"He could go on to establish himself as a great Pollok player but my biggest fear is he will be enticed away in light of his display at the weekend which marked him out as someone who really should be playing at a higher level."

One also hears the Newlandsfield outfit have relinquished their Euroscot Eng League Cup crown after they voluntarily scratched from the competition on account of fielding the ineligible Willie Howie in their 5-0 second-round victory over Renfrew.

Meanwhile, Lok may have lost out on one of their reputed signing targets for next

season - Petershill playmaker Paul Woods - who has verbally agreed to join Queen's Park Spiders boss Gus MacPherson is also linked with an approach for Woods' engine room partner Jordan Murch, but is thought to face strong competition from Irvine

Meadow and one of his former clubs, Beith.

And finally, Vale of Clyde's 8-2 rout of Newmains United has been overshadowed by a leg break suffered by 24-year old David MacKay which looks likely to sideline the promising full-back into next season.
