UPDATE: Photos show wrecked cars on streets of Penilee after fire attacks

EIGHT cars were TORCHED in just 50 minutes in the early hours of this morning. 

Cops have launched an investigation following the attacks in Penilee and Cardonald. 

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it attended fires on Penneld Road at 4.22am, Craigmuir Road at 4.33am, Hollybush Road at 4.42am, Clavens Road at 4.45am and Tweedsmuir Road at 5.05am. 

One fire engine was sent to each incident, and the blazes were extinguished before the firefighters left. 

No injuries were reported. 

A post on social media read: "Omg two cars were on fire in Clavens Road. Thank god the fire brigade got there before anything else was damaged or injured, what a drama to wake up to and it was frightening." 

Anyone with information following the attacks is asked to come forward. 

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.30am on Thursday, January 26, officers were called to a report of eight vehicles set on fire at separate addresses in the Penilee area.

“Officers are carrying out enquiries in the area and would appeal to anyone who has any information regarding these incidents to contact Govan Police Office through 101 with reference 0382 of January 26.

"Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
